CRPF-Kuki Militant Clash: Encounter in Manipur Leaves 11 Militants Dead, One Soldier Injured

CRPF-Kuki Militant Clash: Manipur encounter leaves 11 Kuki militants killed and one soldier injured.

Once again, violence has erupted in Manipur. Security forces and Kuki militants clashed in Jiribam district, resulting in the deaths of 11 militants and leaving one soldier injured. Tensions have escalated in the area, prompting heightened security measures.

According to sources, the militants initially attacked a CRPF camp, leading to an exchange of fire. During the sudden assault, one soldier sustained injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. In retaliation, CRPF personnel eliminated 11 Kuki militants.

Earlier on Monday, a farmer was injured in a separate incident in the Imphal East district when militants opened fire on him while he was working in his field. For three consecutive days, militants have been targeting farmers in the Imphal Valley, leaving many farmers in the outskirts too afraid to tend to their fields. This has impacted the harvest of paddy crops in the region.

Notably, ethnic violence broke out in Manipur’s Imphal Valley in May last year between the Meitei and Kuki communities. This unrest led to over 200 deaths and left thousands of people displaced.
