Kisan Mahapanchayat: A Massive Mahapanchayat at Khanauri Border on January 4. In this mahapanchayat millions of farmers to attend. Farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewal to deliver message to kisan.
Farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike, responded to the recent Supreme Court hearing. He said, “On one hand, the Supreme Court expresses concern for my health, while on the other hand, it is instructing the government to increase its crackdown on protesting farmers.”
Under the ongoing farmers’ movement, a Punjab Bandh has been called for December 30. Additionally, the farmers have announced a massive Kisan Mahapanchayat on January 4 at Khanauri Border, which is expected to see millions of farmers from across the country. Preparations for the event have begun, and Jagjeet Singh Dallewal may deliver an important message to the farmers during this Mahapanchayat. Activist Sonam Wangchuk visited Khanauri Border on Saturday to meet Dallewal.
In a press conference, farmer leaders Abhimanyu Kohad and Kaka Singh Kotda announced the Mahapanchayat on January 4, stating that it is being organized at Dallewal’s request, as he wishes to meet farmers from various states. Dallewal aims to strengthen the farmers’ movement across the country. Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and other states will participate in this Mahapanchayat. Despite his deteriorating health, Dallewal will address the gathering.
Regarding the recent Supreme Court hearing, Dallewal responded, saying, “On one hand, the Supreme Court expresses concern for my health, but on the other, it is ordering the government to increase its crackdown on protesting farmers.” Dallewal pointed out that such language seemed to come from the central government, not the Supreme Court. He argued that while the government may use such words, the Supreme Court should not.
Dallewal continued, “When one doesn’t get justice, they turn to the Supreme Court. This has saddened me. The Supreme Court has ordered the government to be more harsh towards the farmers. Maybe the court also wants bullets to be fired at us. What kind of sympathy is this?”
Dallewal’s hunger strike has entered its 33rd day, and his condition remains critical. He is unable to even drink water. According to doctors, Dallewal urgently needs to be hospitalized and treated, but he refuses to end his hunger strike. He has stated that he will continue his hunger strike until the central government addresses the farmers’ demands.
