Tejashwi Yadav on Bihar: Tejashwi urged PM Modi to grant special status to Bihar

Tejashwi Yadav on Bihar: RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant special status to Bihar, saying there is no issue with the PM visiting Bihar, but the state deserves special recognition and a special package.

Tejashwi emphasized that Bihar should be accorded special status or provided with a special package to support its development. His comments come amid heightened political discourse over PM Modi’s second visit to Bihar in two days.

Commenting on the visits, Tejashwi said, “There’s no problem with the PM coming to Bihar, but the state should receive either special status or a dedicated package.”

He also noted that CM Nitish Kumar frequently meets with the PM Modi and should advocate for a nationwide caste census, adding that the census should include a column for caste.

In a conversation with the media, Tejashwi took a dig at CM Nitish Kumar, commenting on the CM’s gesture of touching the PM’s feet at a recent event, remarking that Nitish seems inclined to touch everyone’s feet, even those of officials.

Tejashwi went on to say that Bihar has played a significant role in Narendra Modi’s rise to Prime Minister, as the state sends a large number of MPs to the central government, yet Bihar continues to face a lack of adequate support from the center.

It should be noted that at the foundation-laying ceremony for the AIIMS in Darbhanga, Nitish Kumar touched PM Modi’s feet, a gesture that has sparked considerable discussion in political circles. PM Modi is set to return to Bihar on Friday for an event in Jamui celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda.
